Wardrobes

Q
A
How high and wide can I go?
Our sliding doors are made according to the overall height and width of the actual aperture you wish to install the system into.
The maximum height is 2490mm and the maximum width is 5000mm.
Q
A
What is the standard depth?
We recommend a minimum depth of 600mm. Our end panels are 600mm deep. Most housebuilders set their wardrobe systems at 600mm
Q
A
Will you install the sliding wardrobes for me?
Unfortunately we cannot offer a fitting service to our retail customers, but rest assured, they are easily installed by a reasonably competant DIYer. See the instructions on the menu bar on the left.
Q
A
What is a liner?
A liner is a piece of MFC (melamine-faced chipboard). This will match your choice of sliding door frame. The purpose of a liner is to act as a floor plate for the bottom track as well as a wall liner where the sliding doors will meet the wall. Our liners are 90mm wide, 18mm thick and approx 2500mm long. They are not compulsory, and you can delete them from our order sequence if they are not required.
Q
A
What is an end panel?
An end panel acts as an MFC “side” of the wardrobe. For example you may wish to have one side as an existing wall in your bedroom. You can then use an end panel on the other side to determine the width of your wardrobe. Our end panels will match your frame and are 600mm deep 18mm thick and approx 2500mm high. (You can cut this down to suit your bedroom ceiling height.)
Q
A
What does wall to wall mean?
Wall to wall means that you will run your fitted wardrobe right across a room from one wall to the other. You do not need an end panel, but we advise you have liners to protect the walls.
Q
A
What area of wall can I cover with the wardrobes?
By adding more doors you can cover any width from 600mm up to 5 metres. The system can be made to suit any height from 400mm up to a maximum of 2450mm.
Q
A
As the sliding wardrobe door system is going to be made to the dimensions I provide, is it easy for me to take the correct measurements?
Yes. For the width, simply measure in the three positions: the top the bottom and centre. If you are using an end panel then you are able to create the width you want. For the height measurement, you take the floor to ceiling measurement at each end and at 1metre intervals in between. Spaceslide then allows for the necessary fitting tolerances when we make the product.
Q
A
Are they difficult to install?
No, each of the sliding doors is fully assembled with top and bottom rollers. You do have to cut and fix the liners and end panel if required and the top and bottom tracksets. The wardrobe doors are not heavy but as they can be up to 2440mm high, general handling and locating them into the finished position is much easier with two people. An average time for fitting a three door sliding system will be 2-3 hours. If you are incorporating an end panel allow a further 1-1.5 hours. Full fitting instructions are available online.
Q
A
What tools do I need to install my system?
A general tool kit will be sufficient. All the holes are already prepared in the top and bottom track for you to fit them to the floor and ceiling. You will need a power drill/driver and a No.8 masonry bit if fitting the bottom track to a concrete floor or a 4mm steel drill if fitting to a timber floor. A good sized spirit level (900mm min) will help to ensure the floor and ceiling track sets are fixed level.
A hacksaw is required to trim the tracksets as we will send them oversize. (We recommend a 42 tpi blade.) Wood saw to trim the liners and end panel (If required) screws and fixings to attach Tracks and liners are not included as we will not know whether you require, masonry, wood or plasterboard fixings.

Room Dividers

Q
A
What is the difference between room dividers and wardrobe doors?
Room dividers have a completely different frame system, The door frames are Silver anodised aluminium, with the ability to take a 12mm thick panel. Therefore we can use 2 sheets of 4.0mm glass with a 4.0mm fibreboard in between. This means you can choose a different colour for each side. Most importantly a room divider does not really have a back or a front, both sides are the same aesthetically pleasing, whereas a wardrobe system has an unsightly back.
Q
A
What is a split panel room divider?
The Room dividers version of the wardrobe Oriental Bar, but with a room divider we actually cut the glass rather than use an adhesive strip which goes on the surface of the panel. this means that as well as having different colours on each side you can also have different colours within each section vertically.
Q
A
How much do the doors weigh?
Room divider panels/doors can weigh as much as 40kgs, we recommend at least 2 able bodied people to carry them.

Due to the weight we have utilised tandem rollers, with 2 pairs for each door panel. This ensures an easy and smooth action.
